Winter Layering on a Budget: Build a Capsule That Works

Pakistani winters are short but sharp — which makes a small, well-planned layering capsule smarter than a bulky coat collection you use three weeks a year.

The three-layer logic

Base (full-sleeve tee or thermal), middle (sweater or hoodie), shell (jacket that blocks wind). Three thin layers trap more heat than one thick one, and adapt from 18°C afternoons to 6°C nights.

The capsule shopping list

Two thermals, two neutral sweaters, one hoodie, one wind-resistant jacket, one shawl or muffler. Roughly eight pieces cover the entire season in dozens of combinations.

Where to spend

The outer jacket — it is seen daily and takes the abuse. Thermals and mid-layers can be inexpensive; nobody sees the brand of your base layer.

When to buy

Late January onwards, winter stock drops 40–70 percent. Buy next winter’s pieces then; buying in November’s first cold wave is when prices peak.
